Hangar 79 still bears the scars of the December 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor. It was a maintenance and engine-repair facility during WW II and is now part of the Pacific Aviation Museum. Its mission now is the restoration and storage of aircraft.
During the Biggest Little Airshow on Ford Island, the hangar housed the models used in the show. The RC aircraft waiting to take to the air, while surrounded by their full-scale counterparts, made the perfect photo. Because the island no longer has an active runway, the models and their pilots entertain and educate the spectators as ambassadors of the AMA and the museum. Photo by Jay Smith.
