Build the First Airplane to Win the Nats
In this month’s "Nats Rewind" column, on page 12, Edward Lange is celebrated as the very first winner of an official Nats event. In 1923, Edward, a 16-year-old from Chicago, won Event No. 6, Mulvihill Trophy Duration Race for Model Airplanes, with his twinpusher Free Flight model. Edward beat out 12 other participants with a time of 4 minutes and 22.6 seconds.
You can find the plans for Edward’s twin pusher, the Lange 3 Twin, at plans.modelaircraft.org/product/lange-3-twin for just $4.
Can you beat his 103-year-old winning time? Maybe you can even show off your build of the Lange 3 Twin at this year’s official 100th running of the Nats!
