District III was highly active this winter, engaging in numerous indoor flying sessions and hosting several swap meet events. Additionally, several upcoming flying events within the district were announced.

To stay informed about these activities, I recommend regularly visiting the updated District III website at amadistrict-iii.com, which is expertly managed by our webmaster, Lisa Zoldak. The website is continuously updated and offers a wide range of valuable information. Upon accessing it, visitors are greeted with a slideshow that features District III members and clubs that are participating in model aviation.

For details about upcoming events, select the "D3 Events" tab. For club updates and newsletters, navigate to the "Club News" tab. Should you wish to revisit the "AMA News" District III columns from Model Aviationdating back to 2012, consult the "District News" tab. The "More" tab contains information about District III officers and affiliated clubs. If you would like your event to be featured on the website, simply access the "D3 Events" tab and use the designated button to upload your club’s event flyer for inclusion by Lisa.

While social media remains popular, the District III website continues to serve as a comprehensive resource for detailed information and the advancement of our shared hobby. I encourage you to regularly visit the website to remain up to date on model aviation activities throughout District III.

After returning as the District III vice president for 2026, I discovered that we have several new associate vice presidents (AVPs) who need to be introduced. This month, I will feature southeastern Pennsylvania AVP Alec Pettifer, in his own words.

I occasionally built and flew Free Flight balsa models from a young age with my dad. Throughout my adult life, I flirted with the idea of learning to fly RC, but the cost and time commitment seemed prohibitive. This all changed when I heard about Spektrum SAFE technology and decided to give model aviation a real try.

Upon joining a local AMA club in 2021, I met a welcoming and friendly group who were very supportive toward the success of newcomers. This experience in the hobby has been life changing. As a result, my mission is to encourage others to step into the hobby as I did and experience the fun, friendship, challenge, and excitement of flying RC.

I am the president of the Chester County Radio Control Club, club 196, helping to grow the club’s membership and adding new flying fields in Chester County and the surrounding Pennsylvania area.

Thank you, Alec, for your passion for model aviation and your desire to help others.

I encourage you to share photos and details about your club’s events with me. I’ll make every effort to feature your activities in upcoming columns.

Happy flying!
