Hi all. It was another busy month, so let’s get to it.
This is from Kim Tillery, the vice president from the Magic Valley Aeromodelers in Twin Falls, Idaho, club 905.
We did a static display of warbirds for a veterans luncheon in conjunction with the Magic Valley Air Show on Friday, August 15. We had 28 airplanes with 12 member participants. It was very successful and exposed our club to more than 300 veterans and active-duty service men, including some U.S. Navy Blue Angels support staff. We have a professional photographer in our club who took photos at the event.
District Associate Vice President Joe Miller sent this in:
Mike Spinner and members of the Florence Area RC Aircraft Association met at Bob Harris field, the home of the McMinnville Aircraft Modelers, in McMinnville, Oregon. The 21st Scalehelipalooza ran from July 17 through July 19, with 30 registered pilots and a lot of great helicopters.
This was a truly international event. Fliers from California, Minnesota, Arizona, Oregon, British Columbia, and New Zealand attended. Scott Service, from New Zealand, said that he had teamed up with Rob McFadyen, from British Columbia, to prepare helis for this event. Everyone I spoke with had a great time.
I attended the Fly-A-Ways Scale Challenge in North Plains, Oregon. It was a great event with good attendance. RC Scale in the Northwest is going strong; here’s a picture:
While in North Plains, we were able to present an awesome award to Earl Aune. He has been inducted into the AMA Model Aviation Hall of Fame! I am always honored to be able to take part in these presentations.
The photos are of Earl accepting the award from Dave Rawlings (who nominated Earl) and of Earl with the celebration cake.
That’s it for this month. Spoiler alert: I flew my new jet and it was fantastic. More on that next month. Keep building and flying!
