October 2025 - District XI

Hi all. It’s been another busy month, with events three weekends in a row!

Fourth of July was at the Weaver’s Field Warbirds event in Othello, Washington. It was lightly attended but a ton of fun. We flew World War II warbirds and turbine jets all weekend. All in attendance had a great time. Here’s a picture:

Next was Warbirds over Wenatchee at the Red Apple Flyers field in East Wenatchee, Washington. Again, it was lightly attended, but it was a great time with lots of warbird flying.

The Wenatchee Red Apple Flyers facility is among the best I’ve seen. Grass and asphalt runways, RV sites, and a clubhouse with restrooms and a shower make it a great field to visit. Here are some pictures:

Lastly, I traveled to Muncie, Indiana, for our summer Executive Council meeting. We worked on a bunch of issues, set up the candidates for the election this year, and more.

Ted Foster, of the Salem RC Pilots Association in Turner, Oregon, reported on the results of the Winter Build Challenge. He wrote:

The photo is of our overall winner, Robert Crump. We had 16 pilots and 21 aircraft turn out. This is a great involvement and shows building in the Northwest is still a thing!

That’s all for this month. I get a break for a few weekends before the next flying events. I’m putting a new jet together, so I’ll update you all next month. Keep building and flying!
