Hi all. We are in the busiest time of the flying season as I write this. I’ve had one weekend home in five weeks and two more events to go until my next weekend home.
I was at Weaver’s Air Field in Othello, Washington, for the club’s annual fly-in weekend. It was lots of fun and flying and I enjoy visiting this field. Gary has the best grass runway I have ever seen and is mowing it very short to allow for warbirds and jets to operate. I’ll be back several times this year because the NorthWest Scale Aero-Modellers Scale Championship will be held here in September 2025.
Next was the sixth annual AMA Northwest Jamboree on June 20-23 at the Wenatchee Red Apple Flyers field in Wenatchee, Washington. Weather was an issue for this event. On Thursday before the event, the club had everything set up for me, so I got to fly. Friday was too windy and Saturday was better, but Sunday morning was the best. We had a fair turnout, and all had a great time. We had a good raffle! Here are pictures:
There was a full-scale fly-in taking place at Moses Lake, Washington, where the Moses Lake RC Modelers (MLRCM) held a Take off And Grow (TAG) event. Four HobbyZone RTF AeroScout RC airplanes were raffled off to the public at the Moses Lake Airshow on June 20-21, 2025. Approximately 1,000 people received tickets.
Since the event, one of the winners selected, a young man from Ephrata, Washington, has been flying his AeroScout with the mentorship and guidance of MLRCM’s club president and Introductory Pilot Program mentor. After three days of instructional flying, this young man has showed the desire, passion, and ability to become a successful RC pilot in a short time.
Great work, Gale! TAG events are a great way to show more people the fun of the hobby. Please convince your club to have one.
That’s all for this month. Much more is coming. Keep building and flying!
