Flying Safely in Public Spaces
On page 50, in this month’s "Advanced Flight Technologies" column, Patrick Sherman discusses his experience flying off of the rocky coast of Southern California at Tamarack Surf Beach. Patrick made sure to fly safely, utilizing LAANC and the FAA UAS Facility Map. Both tools ensure that you—and the people around you— remain safe during flight, especially in public spaces. Learn more about LAANC at faa.gov/uas/getting_started/laanc. Find the FAA UAS Facility Map by visiting faa.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html.
